What is Rubber Gym Rubber Flooring
Gym flooring protects the sub floor in your gym. The sub floor is the floor underneath your rubber gym flooring. Rubber gym flooring is made from a thick rubber material that is placed above your cement floor.
Rubber gym flooring is actually very similar to the fitness flooring at ice skating rinks or sport arenas like artificial turf and artificial grass!
Your rubber gym floor is a soft, more comfortable alternative to the existing floor. Cold basement subfloors in particular are so difficult to work out on. Invest in some amazing commercial or home gym flooring and you’ll transform your exercise routine.
Rubber gym floor mats and floors are designed to withstand heavy weights, intense floor exercises, and other physical activities.
Gym flooring comprises a number of floor tiles that have interlocking sections. These interlocking rubber tiles stick together to create a large floor over your entire gym space or on top of your original garage flooring.
You can also purchase vinyl gym flooring in the form of rubber rolls. Rubber rolls are great for smaller spaces or for individual people. At Gym Floors Direct we stock rubber rolls, mats, and tiles. Gym owners, home owners, and gym junkies alike love our gym floor options.

Why You Should Choose Rubber Flooring
Rubber floors are the most popular form of gym flooring. They are highly practical and stylish! Rubber flooring can be purchased in interlocking tiles or rubber rolls.
Either way, they are the perfect gym floor for commercial and private gyms. Rubber flooring is well loved by gym junkies because it is the best at shock absorption.
Rubber floors will absorb the shock from your workouts or your weights, time after time. You’ll never worry about your subfloor ever again. Rubber flooring protects concrete, wood, vinyl, and linoleum floors.
In addition, rubber flooring is soft and comfortable to use. Rubber flooring is versatile enough to be used for your warm-up, your workout, and your cool-down. You can lay, jump, run, and lift on rubber flooring.

What You’ll Need
- Double sided carpet tape.
- Rubber gym flooring rolls, mats, or tiles.
- Measuring tape.
- Vacuum.
1. Prepare Your Area
First, you’ll need to prepare your garage flooring area (or commercial gym area). Vacuum the dirt and debris on the floor so it’s nice and clean for the new floor.
You can also give the area a quick mop, however, this isn’t essential. If you do mop the floor, make sure you leave the area to dry before you install the tiles.
2. Measure the Area
Measure the area to make sure you have enough tiles to cover the whole gym space. Ideally, you will have successfully and accurately measured the gym before you order your tiles. However, it is a good idea to double check before you jump into the installation.
3. Lay the Rubber Floor
Now, open and unpack your rubber floors. Don’t be concerned if you smell a distinct rubber odor. It’s perfectly normal for rubber to smell quite strong. Lay out the rubber floor tiles in their designated place in the gym.
4. Interlock the Rubber Floor
Interlock the rubber floors by placing the locks together. Simply align the tiles and then connect the interlocks together. Repeat this process until all of the floors have been stuck together.
5. Stick Any Edges With Double Sided Tape
Stick any edges with double sided tape. This is only necessary if you think there are any spots that need a little extra security or assistance. Y
ou may want to tape areas that will be used regularly or where the rubber gym flooring weight section is. Note, the tiles are very secure on their own without tape!
6. Your Floor is Ready to Use!
It’s that easy to install your new gym floors! It should only take an hour or two before your gym flooring is ready to be used!

How to Clean Your Rubber Flooring
What You’ll Need
- Vacuum.
- Mop.
- Hot soapy water.
- Non-abrasive scrubber.
1. Clean
Rubber gym flooring tiles are extremely low maintenance. You can either vacuum or mop your rubber floor. Vacuuming is best for small bits of dry debris or dust.
However, you can also clean the floors with warm soapy water and a damp mop. If there are any stubborn stains or marks use a non-abrasive scrubber.
2. Leave to Dry
Make sure you allow the rubber floors sufficient time to dry before you use them again. If you have a pretty bulky floor leave a little extra time for it to dry.
3. Your Floor is Ready to Use!
Your foam tiles are now clean and ready to be used again! You can start your floor work exercises immediately! It’s so quick and easy to clean our gym floors. You don’t have to miss out on any valuable workout time!
4. Top TIp
Avoid using harsh, chemical cleaning products on your rubber floors. Opt for something natural or gentle. Chemical solutions can damage, discolour, or deteriorate your vinyl flooring.
